M211 FRENCH SELF DIRECTED
A continuing class for existing students.

M212 WRITE YOU AUTOBIOGRAPHY JENNY WILLIAMS
A progressive and structured course for beginners and those who have already begun writing. Beginning, voice, point of view and tenses, characterisation, working with the senses, symbols and metaphors, dialogue, combining memories, structuring and composition, reviewing, self-editing, and publishing.
Class minimum 8.

M213 ALL ABOUT BRIDGES DAVID LEAMAN
The story of that critical piece of infrastructure we know as a bridge – from antiquity to the present day. This is a tale of genius, innovation and embarrassment which is often high art combined with economy and utility. Do not miss this!

M214 PAINTING SELF DIRECTED
A Continuation course. Participants will be encouraged to try a range of ideas using the versatile medium of watercolours. Gum trees - bush scenes, drawing with pastels, pen and ink.

M215 MIDDLEMARCH BY GEORGE ELIOT JOAN CARR
We will read this wonderful book and discuss it and watch some relevant scenes from the BBC production. Suggested course reading: Middlemarch

M221 GERMAN (CONVERSATIONAL) HELEN LAWRENCE
Not for beginners. This is an opportunity for German speakers to practise and for those with some knowledge of German to become more fluent.

A look at the royalty of central & southern Europe and their actions leading to the First World War and thus to their demise.

An opportunity for those who enjoy writing (or would like to) to share their efforts in a friendly atmosphere of mutual support and encouragement.
Class limit 12 or more.

M225 COUNTRY DANCING MARY COWLING & BERNARD GILLAM
Bush dancing and square dancing. The main emphasis will be on enjoying ourselves – no prior skills required.

M226 ITALIAN ROSANNE JOYCE
A continuing course. Not for beginners. Conversation, a little grammar and reading short novels.

Heinz will provide five vignettes about European travel & way of life - illus with maps. John will deal with a number of cities and life styles in which he has lived.

M232 BACKGAMMON GRAEME LINDRIDGE
Backgammon is an ancient game, easy to play, and quick (15 mins). As luck also effects the play a skilled player does not always beat a lesser player. Boards provided, or bring your own.

M233 TAI CHI MARY NEWMAN
Tai Chi is a form of gentle exercise which increases one's well-being, helps one to develop better physical flexibility, deepens the breathing, supports greater concentration and allows easy relaxation.

M234 WINGS, WEIRD & WONDERFUL TREVOR WEBB
Strange and special aircraft either built or remaining as projects and associated projects that have been developed. Also examines the political and social situation in which these were developed.

W211 THE HISTORY OF WESTERN MUSIC NINA THOMAS
Music will be played and explanations given. An opportunity to read the scores for some works as they are played. Briefly looks at the historical eras of classical music, the composers and the musical genres. The genres are linked to art works, architecture, events and people of the times.

W212 BOOK DISCUSSION – BLEAK HOUSE ROWENA MACKEAN
Dickens' major novel Bleak House deals with many issues of his time - law and justice, poverty and crime, which still have relevance today. It is also a love story and a murder mystery, and contains some of Dickens' most sinister, funny and touching characters. We shall discuss, look at themes, plot & background. You will need your own copy of book. Fullers for paperback copies.

Clouds, Unusual Tasmanian facts including Convict Railways, Port Davey, History, Humour, Caves, Travel to Norway, Turkey and Egypt and a little ESP (intuition, synchronicity, etc).

Ever wished that you had kept a journal with sketches of your travels? This course will give you the confidence to keep a daily visual journal - a wonderful record of life!

W222 HOW VICTORIAN BRITAIN CHANGED THE WORLD MARGARET ROSE ET AL
Seven tutors will demonstrate the various ways in which Victorian Britain affected people world-wide.

W223 THE FLYING ASPIDISTRA: ORWELL PENNY COHEN
Looks at George Orwell's life and why he wrote, as well as the turbulent times that he lived in that lead him to write the masterpieces of 'Animal Farm' and '1984'

An opportunity for new players to learn chess and others to refresh and improve their game.

Tai Chi is a universal medium for the cultivation of body, mind and spirit. It is for everyone, of all ages. Participants will need to bring their own mat/rug.

W226 SPACE EXPLORATION – MANNED & UNMANNED PETER TAYLOR
This is a continuing course and it traces the development of space flight, the first steps of humans into space and also the newest space missions and the scientific results flowing from them.

This is a continuing course so new students should have a basic knowledge of the language. td>

W233 MATHS CAN BE FUN! NOELA FOXCROFT
If you don't believe it come along and be surprised. We'll start with a look at elementary algebra and go from there. Please bring an exercise book and ruler.

W234 PLAY READING ANN BROWN
A small group who read a variety of plays from serious drama to comedy and farce.

W234 CIRCLE DANCING KRISTA SANDS
We will learn dances from a range of cultures, mostly western, as well as modern choreographies. Steps will be easy and tempo slow to moderate. If you have two left feet don’t worry, the dances are adaptable.

W236 FACING THE MUSIC CHRIS CARSON
Presentation of recordings of classical music early to contemporary. Non-technical discussion and class participation.
