M111 DR SAMUEL JOHNSON AND HIS TIMES JOHN HOOPER
An amateur historian's understanding of characters and happenings in the 18th century.

M112 LOOK AND LISTEN IAN DUFFY
The history, science and technology of electronic entertainment. Learn about digital TV, camcorders, cameras, iPods, MP3, Blu-ray, home theatre, surround sound, plasma and LCD from an expert. The images and sounds of the electronic entertainment revolution will be brought to life via the magic of PowerPoint.

M113 HIGHER INTERMEDIATE FRENCH HILARY FAWCETT
A group capped at 8 members to maximise conversation opportunities. A working knowledge of the present, past and future tense is necessary, as is a fair knowledge of basic grammar. Grammar is taught and revised but there is also a strong emphasis on the spoken word.

Des is an old Hobartian with experience in acting and some directing (AMEB Speech and Drama Grade VII).

M115 ELEMENTS AND PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN BEVERLEY THOMSON
A course for those interested in design. Learn about colour, shape, texture, line, direction and more as you develop your creativity. Members should bring to class scissors and a glue stick.

M116 WATERCOLOUR PAINTING SUZANNE BANKS
This term we will study beach scenes, country scenes, portraits and animal studies. Learn watercolour techniques and ways of approaching this exciting medium. Basic art supplies are needed  eg paints, paper etc which are available from the Artery or any art shop.

We call this reel exercise. We enjoy sharing the shapes and patterns of social dances from various areas and make friends along the way.

M122 OUR ALTER EGO: THE APES HELEN LAWRENCE
Ape babies have a long childhood when a caring mother or substitute disciplines, protects and comforts at need. They have distinct personalities, are manipulative and opportunistic. They are also exhibitionist and predatory  particularly the males. How like them are we?

M123 RELATIVELY BRIGHT FRANK BROWN
Many famous, intelligent people have equally intelligent blood relations who unfortunately are less well known. This series is intended to redress this situation at least in part.

This is a continuing course therefore beginners would find it too difficult. We will continue with everyday conversational topics with necessary grammar.

Tai Chi is an effective art form that has been proven to relax and strengthen both body and mind. It is suitable for almost anyone of any age or physical capability to learn.

M133 ARMCHAIR TRAVEL PAT AND JOHN OLDING
Travel the world with us to some interesting and unusual places with leaving the comfort of your chair. Take a journey from diamonds in the sand to whales in the frozen north.

M134 LOWER INTERMEDIATE FRENCH HILARY FAWCETT
A small, supportive group for those who have done some French in the past and who need to be reminded again of basic rules and skills. Competence with the present tense is necessary and a knowledge of the perfect tense (passi composi) and the imperfect. Much help with spoken French.

See how spacecraft are designed, built and flown to bring us enduring and beautiful images from space. Venture further into the universe with images from the Hubble Space Telescope. We may step back to the 1960s and revisit the Mercury-Gemini manned missions, the first steps to the moon.

WEDNESDAY SESSION 3 - 12.05

W131 CIRCLE DANCING KRISTA SANDS
As the spirit takes me, we dance folk dances from a range of cultures as well as modern choreographies. Steps will be easy and tempo slow to moderate. We mostly dance singly in a circle, hence circle dancing. If you have two left feet don't worry, the dances are adaptable.

Let's get our teeth into a BIG book! We will read a section each week, discuss it and then watch the relevant scenes of the movie.
Copies of the book are available at second hand bookshops.

W133 PLAY READING TONY MANLEY & ANN BROWN
We will read plays known and not so well known. The emphasis is on sharing and enjoyment. NO experience needed.
If anyone enrols for this as well as another play reading group, well have different plays.

W134 ESPERANTO ROBERT BUDZUL
Esperanto is spoken in more than 100 countries which enables easy communication between people of different languages.
There are only 16 rules of grammar - none of which have exceptions - which makes it an easy language to learn in a short time.

Presentation of recordings of classical music early to contemporary. Non-technical discussion and class participation.
